Let It Rain / Ir tegu lyja

  I never was a fan of “unpractical” accessories, but I made one girly dress and a matching headband this weekend. While still looking for an idea how to wear that dress, I found that the headband looks good with some other clothes.

  So this is my outfit from yesterday with the dress I bought few weeks ago. The photo shoot was very unsuccessful: battery discharged after taking one so-so picture, then it started raining when we were rushing home… and then it got dark. So we just took few more pictures in my “minimalistic” bedroom. Too cute?

  Vakardienykštis derinys su naujai „iškeptu“ lankeliu – nesu didelė jų gerbėja, tad gal ir saldoka. Bet. Beje, fotosesija buvo kaip niekada nesėkminga: baterija išsikrovė padarius vos vieną  nuotrauką, o begrįžtant namo pradėjo lyti. Na o tada jau buvo per tamsu. Taigi kelios papildomos nuotraukos darytos mano minimalistiniame miegamajame.

No Black Day / Diena be juodos

  I’m always very proud of myself when I manage not to wear any black. That probably seems easy for those who live in southern countries. But when 90 % of your life is cold, cloudy, rainy or just grey, black is something that the nature tells you to wear.

  This Sunday I had the realest no black day: even my mascara was dark brown. I (the model) and my man (the photographer) made some photos while taking a walk in one of the most beautiful old district in Vilnius, before going to movie. Between, I haven’t been wearing heels since autumn and this was awkward too.

  So the dress - my latest project - absolutely simple slim, ¾ sleeves, quite deep neckline (hided with the scarf - saving for sun), 2 pockets and side zipper. Designed and drafted by me. I could have used more volume for the back of the skirt, but oh well. Worn with one of my favorite redesigned coat.

  Be galo didžiuojuosi savimi, kuomet sugebu visą dieną nedėvėti nieko juodo. Galbūt tai ir paprasta gyvenantiems šiltesniuose kraštuose. Bet čia, kur 90 % dienų yra šaltos, lietingos, debesuotos ar tiesiog pilkos, tarsi pati gamta diktuoja tamsų aprangos kodą.

  Taigi šį sekmadienį turėjau pačią tikriausią dieną be juodos: net blakstienų tušas tamsiai rudas! Keletas nuotraukų iš pasivaikščiojimo po Žvėryną prieš kiną. Beje, aukštakulnių lauke nedėvėjau nuo rudens, ir tai buvo ne ką menkesnis iššūkis.

  Suknelė: labai paprasta siaura, ¾ rankovėmis, gilia apvalia iškirpte, kurią slepiu po šaliku, kišenės, užtrauktukas šone. Dabar matau, jog sijonui reikėjo šie tiek daugiau pūstumo gale, bet kaip yra taip. Dėviu kartu su vienu mėgstamiausių persiūtu paltuku.

Wait a Little Longer / Dar teks palūkėti

It’s a middle of March already, but still snowing everyday. All the spring-like finished clothes will have to wait a little longer in my closet. But I’ll let you take a glance to some of my current projects.
There is one old sketch – you also can see it in the header of my blog - that always seemed very exciting to me, but I didn’t find time to start doing it. So I finally started making the pattern for the left dress:

I also can’t wait to finish the dress from this fabric (I grabbed the last 1.5 meters of it). The last stitches are left, so you will see it really soon =)

And I started working with my longest lasting project… again. But I made a lot this time! Only the edges need to be finished. I even tried to make an outfit with it. Details will be later…

Žiema visdar nesitraukia, tad mano „pavasarinei“ kolekcijai teks palūkėti spintoje šiek tiek ilgiau nei planuota. O kolkas keli žvilgsniai į 3 projektus:

• suknelė pagal blog‘o viršuje jau kurį laiką besipuikuojantį eskizą: pagaliau pasidariau iškarpą;
• dar viena suknelė iš netikėtai aptiktų paskutinių 1.5 metro medžiagos – jai beliko kelios siūlės;
• ir trečioji: pagaliau pagaliau vėl “dirbu” su ofcialiai ilgiausiai siuvamos suknelės titulą išsikovojusia! Detalių dar nerodysiu, bet modelis baigtas, beliko sutvarkyti kraštus. Neatsispyriau pabandyti priderinti...

Coat and the City / Paltukas ir miestas

I took a little brake from sewing and had some great time with my friends this weekend – a night out in the club, making sushi for dinner, evening stroll in the old town. Few photos from yesterday after watching formula-1 racing in a sports bar. The coat was remodeled from Burda pattern.
Sometimes people ask me why I don’t use finished patterns more often. The problem is that proportions of my body measurements are very different from those standards. So I always need to remake/adjust patters – and this takes even more time then just to draw pattern by myself. The same happened with this coat, but I’m pretty happy with the result. Although in reality it looks cuter then in these photos.

Nors suplanuoti darbai taip ir liko planų stadijoje, bet visgi turėjau nuostabų savaitgalį. Kelios nuotraukos iš pasivaikščiojimo po formulės-1 varžybų sekmadienį. Paltukas permodeliuotas pagal Burda iškarpą.
Dažnai sulaukiu klausimu, kodėl nenaudoju „gatavų“ iškarpų. Bėda ta, jog mano kūno proporcijos labai skririasi nuo standartinių rūbų dydžiams ( labai sudėtinga mintis gavosi..), ir galų gale tas iškarpas tenka keisti tiek kad greičiau tiesiog pačiai nusibraižyti ir išsikirpti. Tas pats atsitiko ir su šiuo paltuku, bet svarbiausia jog galutiniu rezultatu esu patenkinta. Tiesa nuotraukose jis atrodo kažkaip netaip jaukiai kaip gyvai.

My Perfect Skirt / Tobulas sijonas

A short post with one more outfit – this time to show my new mini skirt (well, 2 weeks old).
I wanted a skirt with low waist, but I didn’t properly “evaluate” my measurements, so it sits tight high now. As always – no pattern was used. I have made so many skirts similar to this already, but what can I do – I love them! Its perfect design and I feel very comfortable in them.

Dar vienas greitas mini sijonukas papildė mano gausią panašių sijonų kolekcija. Žinau, jog reikia siūti kažką kitokio, bet vis neatsispiriu šiam beveik „tobulam“ modeliui.

Magic Mushrooms / Grybukai

We had a huge annual festivity in our town Vilnius this weekend - Casimir’s Fair ( Kaziuko mugė) - the biggest craft fair in Lithuania where you can see and buy everything from food to furniture, interior details, accessories, clothes - everything homemade!-, talk to the crafters or just feel that creative spirit and take some great ideas. So you can’t imagine how sad I was when I felt sick on Friday. I sent my boyfriend to the fair to bring my favorite cookies – I call them “magic mushrooms”. And that was my only joy this weekend.

As you probably understood, I haven’t sewn anything. But still here is an outfit from a few weeks ago when we had a brief warming (It’s minus thousands again now). I’ve been trying to make friends with my green bag.

Šiek tiek Kaziuko mugės gėrybių ir poros savaičių senumo derinukas - bandymas susidraugauti su žaliąja rankine. Siuvimo darbai kolkas, deje, nejuda dėl su eiliniu atšalimu užklupusių ligų.

Something Bright / Kaikas Ryškaus

Red is my least favorite color of all. I know it’s just a stereotype, but I do think that dressing in red is kind of “cheapest” way to stand out of crowd, and it’s very difficult not to look that way. There are people who do pull of that color, but still the majority of red in the streets are the worst examples of wearing colors.
Probably the funniest part of this is that my hair is reddish…which I will probably be changing soon.

Recently I found one "cheap" shade of red that I really like. It’s something very bright, between red and pink – don‘t know how to call it in English. Few months ago I bought some peaces of suede leather in that color, and here is my brand new soft (and not photogenic) bag:

Mano pati nemėgiamiausia spalva yra raudona. Žinau, jog tai labai stereotipinė nuomonė, bet raudoan man yra pigiausias būdas išsiskirti iš minios, ir kartu sudėtingiausias būdas atrodyti “teisingai”. Žinoma, daug kas tikrai moka dėvėti šią spalvą, bet visgi dauguma pavyzdžių gatvėje perša priešingą nuomonę ir skatina verčiau jau grįžti prie pilkos kasdienybės
Na ir juokingiausia dalis yra tai, jog mano plaukai turi raudonumo. Bet nebeilgam.

Neseniai atradau vieną išties gražų (pigų) raudonos atspalvį: ryškų, šviesų, raudonai – rausvą. Prieš porą mėnesių įsigyta šios spalvos versta oda, ir štai nauja minkštutė (beje - visiškai nefotogeniška) rankinė ir derinukas.
